My name is Clem. I have a Level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling. I'm a member of the National Counselling and Psychoterapy Society and I follow their ethical framework in my counselling practice. I attend supervision every two weeks. I'm based in Crosshill, on the Southside of Glasgow, and I also offer sessions online via Zoom.
I'm 40 years old, cis female (she/her), and I speak fluent French and English. I identify as fat, white, and queer (in no particular order). I aim to be an anti-racist and trans ally.
I'm used to working with diverse clients from different backgrounds, and different needs from therapy. This means diversity in terms of gender or sexual identities, relationship models, bodies, ethnicities, nationalities, class backgrounds, and cultural or religious identities.
I'm an integrative counsellor: that means that I use different counselling theories and approaches in order to support clients, because I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach for therapy.
I mainly use the following:
the humanistic approach (mainly Carl Rogers' person-centred approach)
the psychodynamic approach (which you may know as the classic Freudian approach)
elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
As your counsellor, I will provide you with a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential space where you can be yourself and talk about whatever you want. I will help you decide how you want to use your time for therapy and what for, and I will ensure that we stay focused on your agenda throughout our sessions.
My practice is called Be Kind Rewind, because I think therapy is first and foremost about cultivating kindness (to yourself, and to others). Therapy can also be a chance to rewind and check your patterns (the ones that are helpful, and the ones that are not), and even re-write your script for life.
